Sushi! in! my! face!

Is what TTO would say. I prefer just to say sushi, and drool copiously.
We went out for sushi tonight at a local sushi place we discovered when we first moved to Joburg.

We go there often enough that the owner and waitpeople recognise us, and can generally guess what our order will be.

The atmosphere is relaxed and chilled, and there's none of this stark black, red and white that you find in some trendy pseudo-Japanese restaurants.

Sushi is not treated like some rare, speciality dish. It's regarded as a normal meal, with none of the frilly bells and whistles that sometimes accompanies sushi. The sashimi is always fantastically tasty, firm and fresh.

TTO and I regularly overload our first piece of sushi with wasabi so as to experience that sinus-cleansing head explosion. I swear, if you ever get backed up sinuses, just eat a teaspoon of wasabi - you'll be clearheaded (and a bit teary eyed) in no time!

Super Happy Cupcakes!

Today, a co-worker and myself went to Ilovecupcakes. They have the most DIVINE cupcakes ever!
We splurged a bit, and bought two of each of their cupcakes, and brought them back to the office for everyone. Lots of smiles, let me tell you!
But their cupcakes are truly delicious. I'm nuts about sweet things, and their cappuccino cupcake is simply delicious...
I know where I'm going to order goodies from when it's my birthday in September!

Pity I'm not getting married in Gauteng (TTO and I are hoping for a winelands wedding in Cape Town), because I love the idea of cupcakes instead of a wedding cake.

The end of a hectic week

Some people regard Sunday as the beginning of the week. I guess I'm the weirdo that regards it as the END of the week.
And what a week it's been!
Work has been super busy, with stress levels through the roof. Thankfully I have truly awesome coworkers!
Also, getting very excited about the impending Canada trip! This time next week, we'll be on our way!

Quick mention of JayJays and their awesome t-shirts - I got one saying "what shall I destroy today?" and I absolutely adore it!

I'm off to Canuckistan!

In less than two weeks!

Yes, my beloved TTO and I are going to brave the close-to 48 hours of travel (layover times included) to go and visit my dear parental units in the Great White North.

Yes, after much pain and suffering (organising Visas, anyone? Getting a new passport? Choosing the tickets and trying to arrange enough layover so you don't have to SPRINT from one end of the airport to another?)

Since I last saw them in Feb of '08, it's been a while, and I'm looking forward to seeing them with much excitement.

This will also be TTO's first trip overseas, and HWMBO (He Who Must Be Obeyed AKA Daddikins) has a very impressive tour planned out. SWMBO (She Who Must Be Obeyed AKA Mommikins) has called and said about 15 bajillion times that we shouldn't worry about packing too many clothes, as they're planning on clothing us in Canadalandia.

Things I'm looking forward to in Canada:

  • Seeing my parents! SQUEEEEEEEEEEE!!!
  • Ben and Jerry's ice cream! Sex for the mouth, I swear!
  • Going white river rafting with HWMBO and TTO
  • Bonding with the parents
  • Meeting up with a couple of friends for a chin wag
  • Ben and Jerry's ice cream
  • The incredible pan cakes
  • Trying to walk through West Edmonton Mall in ONE DAY
  • Ben and Jerry's ice cream
  • Finally getting my grubby paws on some Urban Decay Primer Potion!
  • Travelling with my beloved
  • Did I mention Ben and Jerry's??
Things I'm not looking forward to:
  • The incredibly long drive we have on our first day
  • The 13 hour layover in Europe on our way back
  • The long flights - and trying to get TTO a decent seat for his long legs! (There's nearly 7 foot of him, he needs it!)
  • Going home afterwards :(
There are literally 11 more sleeps until we take off!

The wonders of being a girl (part 1)

More specifically, bubble baths (in winter!!)
Very few men understand the wonders and magical powers of a bubble bath.
But for a good bubble bath, you need the following:
  • A good foam bath/oil
  • really nice smelling bath bombs
  • scented and non scented candles (a buttload of)
  • a big glass of wine
  • a book
  • a lock for the door
With all these ingredients, it's time to settle in for a long soak. That's right boys, you'd better pee beforehand, it could be at least an hour before she's done.

You have your wine, you have your candles and you have your book. The first stinging of the hot water on your toes as you gingerly get in, gradually settling in to the hot water. Aaaaaaaaaaah, you can feel your extremities thawing out, lovely! Take a sip of your wine, crack your book open and relax...

Of course, you'll need to top up the hot water every now and then. If you're lucky, the tap handles are within arm's reach, but if not, you get to show off how dexterous you are with your toes. Repeat as necessary until relaxation is complete (or you can't stand the creaking sound of your SO's bladder under pressure).

Drain the bath, towel off, moisturise with a decadently thick and edible-smelling cream, and waft out, smelling fabulous and looking great!

S'pose I should introduce myself.
Hi! I'm iradney *waves*
I am a human female approximately as old as my tongue, and a little older than my teeth.
I co-habit with my mate, TTO (The Tall One), and our pooch, Muttock. I earn money by having a job, and I enjoy doing stuff.

I might not update all that often, because I tend to be scatterbrained and I ge...ooooh shiney!!! *wanders off*
